Since 2007 UFABC offers a program of study leading to the degrees of Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry (Science and Technology/Chemistry). The main goals of the graduate program are:
1. Development of scientific and technological frontier research.
2. Graduation of researchers with a wide domain in their knowledge fields.
3. Formation of highly qualified professionals to supply the college education demand and the national and regional technological development.
The Master’s program is designed to be completed in 2 years of full time study and research. After this period the student must present a research dissertation. The PhD degree can be usually obtained after 4 years during which the student will fulfill the formal coursework and develop an original research. At the end, the student must submit an original thesis, which is defended at a final oral examination.
Applications for the Graduate Program in Science and Technology/Chemistry are accepted from graduated students in Science and Technology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Biology, Computer Science and other related areas.
Traditional areas of chemistry (physical chemistry, inorganic, organic, biochemistry and analytical chemistry) are studied in frontier research themes: Structure of Matter, Energy and Transformation Processes.
