Abstract
In Electrochemistry we mostly consider the interface between a metal in contact with an ionic solution, the properties of the latter being those of the bulk solution. To get information on this point,surface charge transfer will be analyzed by using CO displacement and the existence of two processes will be demonstrated: hydrogen and anion adsorption. In this way anion-related adsorption properties can be measured. Combination of different techniques will allow to show that surface pK of organic acids is lower than in bulk solution. The temperature transient method can be extended to interfaces between single crystal electrodes in contact to purified ionic liquids. The results will be compared with classical potential of zero charge values.
